7 Mood Elevating Foods:

I get it. Life can be a drain. It can suck you dry. It can tap your reserves. It can leave you sitting there at the end of the day wondering if you can muster the energy to even get to bed.

These sorts of days are not just physically draining. They are emotional draining as well. They take all those chemicals in your brain that trigger thoughts of feelings of happiness and satisfaction and turn them into a doom and gloom attitude.

Who has time for that? Don’t we all, at our roots, WANT to feel good? To feel happy? To feel like a hard day was worth the struggle?

It isn’t always easy to overcome the brain’s chemistry or the mystery of the mind. But there is something we can do should we find ourselves in a darker place mentally and emotionally. A place we don’t want to be.

We can eat mood-elevating foods!

Yep – there are indeed foods that can help us feel happier and have an improved outlook.

Basically foods that are much richer in vitamins, minerals, nutrients, electrolytes and phytonutrients, yet much poorer in calories than any other foods, nourish the body on a very deep level. They help us achieve a better mental state.

So what are these food exactly? Some are a little less than mainstream but they are worth tracking down. Others are pretty common and possibly something you have be itching to try anyone. So why not!

7 Mood-Elevating Foods

Raw Cacao – is rich in antioxidants, magnesium, iron, chromium, manganese, zinc, copper, vit-C, phosphorus and more. It’s also rich in tryptophan, which is a powerful mood-enhancer, crucial in the production of serotonin, which diminishes anxiety and has the same impact as love in our brain.

Hempseeds and Hempseed Oil – are one of the rare complete source of protein and are packed with life-force energy and enzymes. They are rich in Omega-3, 6 and 9 which are all very important for brain functions. The help restore balance to your entire body as well as invigorate those feel-good sensors in your brain.

Broccoli – is a powerhouse when it comes to folic acid (also known as B9), which is important to the production of red blood cells and mood regulation.

Avocado – has oleic acid, a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid, which increases the feel-good chemical serotonin in the brain, keeping you cool and calm during an intense day.

Popcorn – like cacao, it contains tons of tryptophan. This makes is a great grab-and-go snack with mood enhancing qualities!

Oysters – are high in zinc. This mineral is proven to calm the body and stabilize mood.

Sauerkraut – properly fermented foods like sauerkraut put lactobacillus bacteria in the gut which specifically influences the brain. Lactobacillus creates more GABA receptors in the brain and also produces the neurotransmitter itself which then circulates in the blood. All of this has a profound impact on emotional balance and the nervous system.

So this is pretty cool right? Eat the right foods, improve your mood, live a life with a happier outlook. I’ll eat to that!
