How to Make Your Own Oatmeal Face Mask

April 23, 2013

Cookies are way more attractive than a face mask! Who wants to look at a bowl of oatmeal? Cookies are way more attractive than a face mask! Who wants to look at a bowl of oatmeal? Thanks to Fred for this photo!

This face mask is by far, the tastiest one I have EVER made! No joke. How cool is it to not only nourish your skin but also enjoy the comforting taste of oatmeal cookies, should any happen to trickle into your mouth?!

I adore this mask for more than its rich scent (which is a huge pick-me-up) and familiar flavors. It is soothing for dry, irritated, or itchy skin. It is also amazing for oily skin as the saponins in the oats soak up all the nasty debris on your skin.

I suggest that you immediately give this mask a try! I cannot imagine you NOT loving it!

Oatmeal Cookie Face Mask

  • ¼ cup of rolled oats
  • ½ teaspoon of cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg or cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or vanilla essential oil
  • 2 teaspoons of raw honey
  • 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt

  1. Add all of the ingredients into a glass bowl.
  2. Mix well, being mindful of the moisture level. It gets a tad dry (which can happen depending on the brand of oats you use), just add more honey and/or yogurt until it gets to a nice spreadable consistency. You want it thick but not clumpy and dry.
  3. Massage the mask onto your face, neck, chest, shoulders, ears, in your hair…wherever really. Just avoid getting inside your eyes. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes then rinse with warm water followed by a cool water splash!

This recipe can be doubled or tripled for use over larger areas. It makes a great “back mask” as well.
